My Story
Hi, I'm Ashlee.
I'm so glad you're here.
I'm married to my incredible husband, Bryan, and together we're raising four energetic boys. If you had told me years ago that I'd one day homeschool all four of them, I would have laughed. In fact, there were two things I once confidently declared I'd never do: drive a minivan and homeschool my children. Today, I happily do both.
Like many families, we assumed our children would attend traditional school. We were both educated in the public school system, and homeschooling simply wasn't part of our plan. But when our oldest was ready for kindergarten, what began as a financial decision quickly became something much deeper.
As I researched, prayed, and talked with other homeschool families, I found myself asking bigger questions: What is education for? What kind of childhood did I want my boys to have? The more I learned, the more my heart changed. I realized I wanted a home filled with beautiful books, meaningful conversations, time outdoors, and the freedom for my children to learn and grow at the pace God created them.
More than six years later, I can honestly say homeschooling has been one of the greatest gifts God has given our family. It has stretched me, humbled me, and taught me just as much as it has taught my children.
Like many homeschool moms, I spent my early years searching for the "right" curriculum and wondering if I was doing enough. Everything changed when I stopped chasing methods and started asking deeper questions about education itself. I discovered that curriculum isn't the foundation of a homeschool—philosophy is.
Today, our homeschool is rooted in a Charlotte Mason-inspired philosophy with a classical influence, centered on living books, good habits, and the formation of the whole person. That conviction has brought so much peace to our home, and it's why I created The Homeschool Starter Guide.
My hope is to encourage and equip homeschool families to build a home rooted in truth, goodness, and beauty, one that is guided by conviction rather than comparison. You don't need to have all the answers before you begin. You simply need the courage to take the first faithful step.
